In Passing is a sound machine: two model trains travel continuously along two intersecting tracks, weaving their way through a landscape of found objects. Metal bowls, chains, ping-pong balls and other everyday materials are struck, brushed, or set into motion as the train passes, each contact releasing a distinct sonic event. The trains activate a constantly shifting acoustic environment. Every collision produces a moment of friction and resonance while the architecture of the water tank-room amplifies and transforms these sounds. The installation functions as an acoustic laboratory in which movement, material, and space continuously interact. The intersecting tracks create ever-changing sequences of encounters, preventing the composition from settling into a fixed pattern. Slight variations in timing, speed, and the physical response of the objects ensure that no journey is exactly the same. Each circuit becomes a temporary composition.
