‘püh/tüüü(u)’ is a kinetic sound sculpture (developed for the Klangmanifeste Festival) in which an old, slightly wobbly microphone stand becomes the central actor with the help of a motor. Its constant wobbling causes it to strike various objects – cymbals, found objects, branches, metal sheets – creating a fragile, random soundscape of taps, friction and resonances. A long tape loop carries a continuous, whistling motif around the room, while a thin metal foil rustles in the draught and behaves like a breathing element. Four organ pipes, triggered by a motion detector, play a floating chord. The ensemble is complemented by casts of branches and leaves made of proxy resin, which mediate between mechanics and materiality like frozen fragments of nature. ‘püh/tüüü(u)’ is a trembling micro-ecosystem of movement, sound and organic traces – always in transition, always on the verge of tipping over.
